Section B - History
1. Character birthday and days that specific character has been played: Dec. 15, 1999. Days played: 400 days exactly.
2. All servers you have ever been on: Karana, The Rathe, Erollisi Marr, The Tribunal.
3. Prolonged breaks?: I have taken a couple. My most recent was a year-long break between July 2008 and July 2009 as I was recovering from my second open heart
surgery and dealing with some other personal matters.
4. Original owner? Yes.
5. Guild history: This will be long.
I have played for a long time and have been many places.
I was in a couple little guilds between 1999 and 2001 on Karana, but they always collapsed. The game was still relatively new, though, so I guess that had something to do with it. I spent most of my time between levels 1 and 60 unguilded.
Souls of the Arcane (Karana): May 2001 to December 2004. This was a little family guild. I was an officer and the Shaman class leader. All I did was group with my guildys and I had a total ball. Toward the end of my time there, I started leading raids here and there - some Fear raids for epic pieces, Bastion of Thunder minis and towers, Vindi, etc. I freakin' loved this guild. But eventually it succumbed to drama and I left for that reason and because one of my friends was getting ready to start his own guild (see below) and asked for my help. I left on okay terms - the guild loved me (many followed me to Halcyon), but the guild leader hated me. I never did find out why.
Halcyon (Karana, then The Rathe): I joined on Dec. 12, 2004 as one of the
guild's founding members and left in June 2006. I was an officer, a raid leader, the Shaman class leader, and helped manage the guild's EQDKP database.
I was involved in every aspect of guild life. We raided six days and I led unofficial raids on the seventh day so guild members could obtain their 1.5 and 2.0
epics and Anguish augments. This was a very close-knit guild. We always grouped together and did a ton of stuff outside of raids (including a naked Halfling
race, but that's a whole other story). Leaving was a hard decision, but ultimately it came down to a major conflict between another myself and another
officer (who happened to be the GL's girlfriend). I ended up leaving my leadership positions because of it and ultimately left the guild when the drama
just got to be too much. I left on good terms with the membership and other officers; except the GL was mad at me.
Legend of Marr (The Rathe): I joined in July 2006 and stayed until January 2007. Legend of Marr was a great guild and I was very proud to be in it. It just didn't feel the same, after having been in guilds (SotA and Halcyon) with all of my friends for so long. I missed Halcyon in particular very much and EQ just wasn't holding my interest (a lot of my friends left the game after Halcyon started to go downhill, and I missed them very much). I decided to leave the guild and took a short break from the game. I left on good terms and was told that I could come back if I ever returned to the game.
Halcyon (The Rathe): I came back to the game and rejoined in June 2007. When I came back to the game, I discovered there had been a change in leadership. An old friend of mine was now the guild leader and the officer I had had such a problem with was no longer playing. I asked if I could reapply and they welcomed me back with open arms. It wasn't long before I realized it wasn't the same Halcyon it was before I left: the guild was making a transition between a fixed-cost DKP system and a bid DKP system, and the transition generated a lot of drama and rudeness that I didn't want to be part of. I left on good terms. The guild ended up merging with another raid guild on Rathe and the merger guild is now defunct.
Server transfer: I never thought I'd consider a server transfer. Tordail was born on Karana and I thought he'd be there till they unplugged the servers. But after I left Halcyon the second time, it occurred to me that there weren't many options on Karana/Rathe for me. The other guilds I'd have gone to, even Legend of Marr, were all six- or seven-day-a-week raid guilds and I had decided that was too much for me at the time. So I landed on E. Marr after talking to an old friend from The Crucible (Shaman boards) who was on the server.
Primal Evolution (Erollisi Marr): I joined in September 2007 and left in January 2008. I enjoyed my relatively brief time in the guild because there were a lot of nice people, but to be honest with you, I have never seen such a disorganized raid force in my entire life. Even the Shaman had no real idea how to play their classes, which irritated me to no end (one of them insisted the 2.0 was useless to us). Having come from guilds for whom raiding was like breathing, I couldn't stay. I did leave on good terms, though. This guild ended up merging with another one not long after I left.
Server transfer: A second server transfer really shocked me. But the only other raid guild in my time zone on Erollisi Marr was a 6-day-a-week raid guild (with unofficial raids on the seventh) and I didn't want that again. So I talked to Waring (a community leader for SOE and the former Shaman class correspondent), who was at the time a member of The Elitists, and came to The Tribunal.
The Elitists (The Tribunal): I joined in 2008 (for the life of me, I can't
remember the date) and only got to stay until July 2008. TE is a really great guild and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Right before I left, the leadership asked
me to be the Shaman class leader and I was happy to serve. But near the end of my short time there, the drama escalated and I got pretty irritated and
uncomfortable. I left the guild because of it. (Do you see a theme here? I freakin' hate drama.) But as I was trying to figure out which other guild
I'd like to apply to, I had to undergo a second open heart surgery in August 2008 and got forced into a long break from the game to recover. I believe that
I left on good terms.
Exodus (The Tribunal): I returned to the game totally clueless about Seeds of
Destruction, but wanting to get back into raiding. So I figured it would be a good idea to join a little family guild while I leveled up and such. I joined in
August and left on Oct. 5. All I can say is that it seemed like a good idea at the time. I figured there'd be lots of groups, people to play with, friends
to make. Right? Wrong. They did not group very much at all! It was terrible. I was not having any fun and nobody wanted to do Void tasks. So I left on good
terms (the leadership understood why and wished me well). I think the guild has mostly collapsed, and I think many members have joined Fate.
Sol Invictus (The Tribunal): I was tagged on Oct. 6 even though I was only level 81. I talked to Danille and then Vikarr for a long time and Vikarr said I could join as non-raid status until I was 85. So I got Void E flagged with the help of a loooong list of guildys, and have been trying to get to 85. He sent me an in-game email yesterday and told me to post my app, so here it is for what it's worth!
6. Have you applied to and been turned down by another guild? Nope. I have been very fortunate in this regard.
7. Why did you apply with Sol Invictus?: Well, I was reading the Web page and it says that Sol Invictus members like to group and do things outside of raids. And it reminded me very much of Halcyon (safe to say that was my favorite guild EVER) and the atmosphere I enjoyed while there. I love to raid, don't get me wrong - but it's really awesome to have an atmosphere like that because it makes your guild that much closer.
8. Who else has access to this character?: Until last month, nobody has ever had access to Tord except me. Not even Ovrcast. But
Tucas offered to help me with Void flagging, and she had access to Tord for a very short time. Which felt really weird, for some reason. As an aside, when I
logged him in the next time, his gear had mysteriously turned bright pink.
9. List any references (any SI members) you care to list here: Well I don't really know too many people. I have talked to
Danille and Vikarr at length, and have also picked Tucas's brain with many questions, and was in The Elitists with Ariar. If you want some off-server
references, you can contact Maelin.Cezarion, Rathe.Khristlich, Rathe.Madily, Rathe.Gwerlum, Rathe.Johnnybe, Rathe.Tinabelle, Rathe.Maroc and
Erollisi.Crystilla. I know for certain that Khristlich (he was one of my Shaman in Halcyon) and Crystilla (she was an officer in Primal Evolution) are still
playing; the others, I am unsure of. You can, of course, also ask people from The Elitists - Mojoslinger is the only TE Shaman I played with who still plays. I
was also guilded with Darshi in Exodus (she is now in Fate with Baarsh her husband) and got to be pretty good friends with her.
Part 2: Requirements
Section A - "General"
1. Have you read and understand the General Requirements thread in the Recruiting Forum?: Yes.
2. Do you have all expansions?: Yes.
3. Do you have all the zone maps? Yes.
4. Are you currently unguilded on all your characters?: No, I have been a pre-trial member of SI since Oct. 6. The other character on my account, a little
Bard, is unguilded.
5. Do you have any open applications to any other guild using any character you own?: Nope.
6. List your insta-click items and indicate if the are usable indoors, outdoors or both: Spiked Bracelet of the Betrayer, usable indoors and outdoors.
7. List your shrink item: None; I use spells.
8. List your enduring breath item/aa: Faerune on my helm.
9. List your invis item/aa: Silent Presence AA.
10. Have run5 AA?: Yes.
11. Do you understand our raid times?: Yes.
12. What is your estimated raid attendance % during your trial?: My first instinct is to say 100 percent, since I am available all three nights, but nothing
ever works out that way (at least not with my luck), so I'll say I will attend 2 out of 3 nights.
13. List any items, job conflicts, activities, time zones that will effect your attendance: Sometimes I must stay at work a little late, but I forsee no real
problems getting to raids. Also, I am a captain in a volunteer fire department and must sometimes leave abruptly (I have a hotkey to send tells to the
appropriate people).
14. Is your computer able to operate "lag free" in any zone with an excess of 60 people?: Yes.
Section B - "Class Specific"
Review your Class Specific Requirements and then answer the following questions:
1. What class specific aa are you missing?: I have plenty of AA with which to function in current raid content, though I must still purchase the SoD healing AA
with the exception of Healing Adept).
2. What class specific spells or tomes are you missing?: I have all of the SoD spells and, in most cases, have the Rk2 version. I must still get enough faction
to acquire the Rk2 of Lynx.
3. List any other Class Specific Requirements that you do not currently have: I'm not aware of any.
Part 3: Flags/Keys/Overall Progression
1. Korafax tower keyed?: Newp.
2. Void F/Korafax access (non-instanced)?: I am Void E flagged.
3. Crystallos access (non-instanced)?: Group, not raid.
4. MMM access (non-instanced)?: Group, not raid.
Please add any additional information here (Tradeskill proficiencies; EQ affiliations; etc): I am a grandmaster Alchemist with my trophy and am happy to make
any potions for anyone.
PS. If you made it this far, thanks for reading The Longest Freakin' App Ever (tm).
